What have you done

"It is not that I have not done anything in life but I have done just a quarter of what I can. This thought makes me restless. Always..." - Javed Akthar

Some light at last

Just one day before my mid term exams for term4 I have made an important far reaching decision that shall change and affect my life for years to come. I hope I am not going to go back on this now. What a relaxed feeling it is to have some clarity. And Gosh it has taken me around 4 months to decide this, in a longer term views of things some 3-4 years. I am thankful to all the people I have talked to,friends, professors , officers and others. Especially the last talk I had with one friend today evening. I am thankful and I must begin asap.

Power of Culture and Symbols

I have always been fascinated and inspired by the power of culture, rituals and symbols. Hans Rosling ends a fantastic presentation that talks about poverty in a very non-traditional way. The presentation talks about how the world is just not industrialized and developing world. The non-traditional but fascinating ending goes like this -
"Sword swallowing is from ancient India. It is an cultural expression that for thousand of years have inspired young men to think beyond the obvious. And I will now prove to you that 'seemingly impossible is possible'...."

Logic alone is a poor substitute for intelligence

It is when I slide down into my unintelligent self, I take refuge in logic for staying above the water. But logic ensures only survival, ah! that is so unimaginative, so ineffective ;), Relying only on logic is like making a building stand on one pillar. You can probably construct a ordinary structure, but never a monument :)
